Guidelines and Cautions for the General Use
of Herbs & Essential Oils
HERBS
Before using an herb you are unfamiliar with, find out its medicinal properties.
If you are taking prescription drugs, or have a medical condition check with an appropriately qualified practitioner before
using herbs medicinally. Herbs have shown overwhelming evidence
that they work. However, as individuals we all have different constitutions, sensitivities, allergic reactions and possible
health conditions.
Our
bath and beauty products are made with low doses of herbs, are mixed with other herbs or materials, and
are for external use only. Therefore, the probability of any detrimental effects is low in most cases. However,
we give the following guidelines to you for the herbs that we use in our products:
If
you have high blood pressure, you should avoid hyssop, rosemary, sage or thyme.
If
you have epilepsy, you should avoid hyssop, sage, & rosemary.
ESSENTIAL
OILS
We use very small amounts of essential oils in our soap products which are of course
used at the recommended ratio and with several other ingredients and various processes. However, we list the following guidelines
for you regarding the essential oils that we use in our products:
If
you are pregnant or nursing, you should avoid these essential oils:
Bergomot,
Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Myrrh, Peppermint, Red Thyme, Rose, Rosemary, Sage and Spikenard.
The
following is a list of essential oils that we use in our products that could possibly cause skin irritation:
Bergomot,
Lemon, Myrrh, Orange, Peppermint, Pine, and Spearmint.
The
only products that we sell for internal use is our Hot Tea for Cold Prevention and Relief, our Rose Hip and Chocolate
Mint Tea, Cooking Herbs.
We
do not recommend the Hot Tea for Colds for persons who are pregnant or nursing, have high blood pressure or epilepsy as
it contains sage.
